Oregon’s lack of available, accessible, and affordable housing severely limits choice for people with disabilities to live in housing they can fully enjoy. We believe that targeted engagement with local decisionmakers can make accessibility a priority for future housing locally and statewide.

Let’s work together to set a new standard for housing accessibility!

The Broadway Corridor has been touted as a once-in-a-lifetime development opportunity. Located at the site of the former downtown post office, the land where the project is to be built was public land. That means the project will be subject to an agreement between community groups and the developer.

Accessibility must be part of the community benefits agreement!

The federal mandate for accessible housing is 5 percent of multifamily units. Overall, just 1 percent of the US housing stock is equipped to meet the needs of people with disabilities and older adults. And each day, 10,000 people turn age 65. The Broadway Corridor is an opportunity to address current gaps in housing supply.
